Burslem’s Richie Sampson is the 2015/16 JJ Champion after collecting 12 points in the final round. He went into the meeting level with Darcy Broad but Broad’s last place in heat 19 meant he missed the semi-final cut off and handed Sampson the title. Sampson managed a third in his semi-final but was giving the traditional winners bumps as he got to the pit gate. He will now go onto the AL next season while Broad will be back for another crack at the JJ and will certainly be one of the front runners.

 

Back to this meeting and it was a good finish to the GPs for Wayne Josephs who topped the rostrum and pulled himself up to fourth place overall. He made the jump when the tapes went up and was never troubled for the 4 laps. Behind him came Boyd Beaton who battled his way passed firstly Giles Hill and then, on the final bend, Craig Leonard to claim second place. This was by far his best meeting and he will be another back in the JJ next season. Leonard’s third place meant he scored double figures in each meeting and finished an excellent third overall. Hill was fifth overall and but for one bad round could have been on the rostrum. The other three semi-finalists were Brain Broadbank, Jordan Trott and Dmitrij O’Shea who all rode well in the three rounds without really troubling the leaders. O’Shea and Broadbank will move into the AL while Trott will have another crack at the JJ. One disappointment in this round was Robbie Cormack who had every chance of winning the title. Unfortunately, he didn’t get going and apart from one race win did not trouble the scorers. All the other finalists rode their hearts out in all three meetings. Some will head into the AL while others will be back next season to try their luck once more.
