BRITISH GRAND PRIX

It was a good day for the series leaders with the top 3 at the start of the day all scoring well, holding their positions, although the gaps between them did tighten a little, and extending their lead in the race for the rostrum places.  DENIS GOMOZOV (ABERAVON GEMS) won the round and he is now 9 clear of the chasing pack in 3rd place overall, and just 3 points behind the silver medal position.  Gomozov's club-mate SCOTT BRIDGES (ABERAVON GEMS) made it a good day for the Welsh side with 2nd in the round and his total of 17 sees him close the gap to just a single point off the vital 8th place spot which will guarantee being part of next season's GP series.  MARTIN SHAW (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) remains a consistent performer, on the rostrum for a third time in this season's series and he moves up to 4th place overall and is seemingly certain of a top 8 spot now.  LIAM REAY (WORKINGTON LOGHEADS) completed the finalists and his useful total of 15 points means he maintains 2nd in the overall standings and closes the gap on the series leader by a couple of points, to 10.
HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) and JONUS SANDIN (WANTAGE KINGS) both reached the Semi Finals, scoring 10 points in the round and keeping their respective positions of 7th and 8th overall.  HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) was looking like taking a big step to the world title when he opened with 4 straight race wins but came last in his Semi Final and saw Reay and Gomozov close the gap a little on him at the top of the leaderboard; Bergestol however remains a hot favourite as he stands 10 points clear with 2 rounds remaining.  The other Semi Finalist was America's BRAXTON MCCHESNEY (WHITBY VAMPIRES) who didn't win a race all afternoon but scored 7 points and moves up the leaderboard one place, although he will need more if he is to jump from 12th into the top 8 over the final 2 rounds.
OLEG YELESNEV (WOLSTON WARRIORS) also scored 7 points but sees the gap to the top 8 stretch slightly, to 11 points, and, like McChesney, will need a couple of strong rounds to finish if he wants to avoid the GP Challenge meeting.  STEEN ERIKSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) was the Wildcard for this meeting and showed well, scoring 6 points to finish 10th.  It was a bad afternoon for defending World Champion NICK AMBROSE (TWEEDSIDE TIGERS) who scored just 5 and a rostrum finish of any kind now looks unlikely and his main focus will be on picking up enough points to avoid a shock appearance in this season's GP Challenge.  CHRIS ADAMS (WOLSTON WARRIORS) looks likely to be heading for the GP Challenge, just 5 points today leaving him 14 points behind an automatic spot at the moment.  HENRIK HANSEN (TUNSTALL TERRIORS) had a nightmare start to the series but has been growing in confidence as the season has progress - 5 more solid points today and he'll want to finish strongly over the final rounds to head into the GP Challenge full of confidence.  ERIK DAVIDSSON (ROME RAVENS) started the day chasing down a top 8 spot but ended it with just 3 more points towards his total and he will need two good rounds if he is to pull back towards an automatic qualifying place.  RYAN IRWIN (WOLSTON WARRIORS) also scored 3 but his series has long been counting down to a GP Challenge appearance and the big question now is whether he can find the desire to get back for next season.  The shocker of the day was MACIEJ TERCJAK (STOCKPORT SHALEBLASTERS) who started the day in 4th and picked up 2 points in his first ride but then failed to add any more and he falls one place on the leaderboard with a possible rostrum challenge suddenly looking very difficult for the Power League star who will be looking to keep his concetration up now and make sure he at least seals a top 8 spot.
