A really close round at the Dunlop Road Raceway saw 7 riders score double figures with just 2 points separating the winner from the rider in seventh. Ashley Wakerley was the rider to take the spoils and book his semi-final place. A three-way run-off for second place involved Marcus Jay, Mitchell Spink and Jordan Trott. Jay winning this by virtue of a superb gate. Spink could have won the meeting but for a last place in heat 20 when 2 points would have been enough. Trott could also have been the victor but he fell and was excluded when challenging Boyd Beaton for the lead in heat 15. He wasn’t too pleased at the decision as he thought Beaton has clipped his front wheel as they battled into the third bend on lap 2. The re-run was then won by Michael Plant who had one of his best performances of the season scoring 8 points. He will be one to look out for next season. Double figure scores for Frankie Young, James Knight and Boyd Beaton should see them safely into the semi-finals. Behind them Dominic Rivers and Chris Ford had solid rounds and will need one more to stay in the top 32.
