FINLAND/NORWAY GRAND PRIX

An interesting GP which saw the series reach the halfway stage and really shaped the top of the leaderboard.  MACIEJ TERCJAK (STOCKPORT SHALEBLASTERS) showed that riding in the Power League has not harmed his form at the highest level with a second consecutive GP win, cementing his position in 3rd and putting him on the heels of the leaders.  It was also a good round for both DENIS GOMOZOV (ABERAVON GEMS) and MARTIN SHAW (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) who completed the rostrum places here and kept their overall positions of 5th and 4th respectively.  The Grand Final was made up by HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) who couldn't claim the win on home shale but his 15 points mean he has moved 4 points clear at the top of the leaderboard.
The other riders to extend their meeting beyond 5 races were a quarter of Englishmen.  NICK AMBROSE (TWEEDSIDE TIGERS) scored 13 but will have to improve over the second half of the series if he wants to retain his world title.  HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) and LIAM REAY (WORKINGTON LOGHEADS) both added 11 to their scores; Wood extending the gap between himself, in 8th, and 9th spot whilst Reay loses his share of the overall lead, by only by 4 points.  MARK BLACK (WORKINGTON LOGHEADS) completed the top 8 in this meeting, his 8 points a good return although he should now revert to reserve for the next round but it was satisfying to still prove he can compete in a GP.

CHRIS ADAMS (WOLSTON WARRIORS) and JONUS SANDIN (WANTAGE KINGS) both scored 8, Sandin falling one place overall but still holding a top 8 spot whilst Adams boosted his standing to 12th.  HENRIK HANSEN (TUNSTALL TERRIORS) has found the going tough in the GPs but double his score from the previous 3 rounds, ending with a fine win over Wood, Yelesnev & Davidsson.  ERIK DAVIDSSON (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) scored 4 points whilst BRAXTON MCCHESNEY (WHITBY VAMPIRES), SCOTT BRIDGES (ABERAVON GEMS) and OLEG YELESNEV (WOLSTON WARRIORS) picked up just 3 each and the quartet all lose ground on the top 8 which will guarantee automatic qualification for next season's series.  Bringing up the rear was OLLE BJORN THORESEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) who was a Wild Card in his home GP but had a real off day and failed to trouble the scorers which will disappoint him as he's certainly capable of better.

So it's on to the European GP in 3 weeks' time and in the 5th round of 8 there will be much to fight for as Bergestol will look to extend his lead, the chasing pack will want to do the opposite and the battle for the all important top 8 spots will really heat up.
