Lewie Carr made the brightest start to the meeting, being the only unbeaten rider after 2 rounds of heats. Jason Hoskins and Lee Jessup were just a point further back with
several riders on 4 points.

|
Carr made it to the interval unbeaten as he stretched his lead after 12 heats to 2 points ahead of Stevie Crammond, Jason Hoskins and Carl McKinlay on 7 points.
|
|
|
|
After Crammond had dropped a further point Carr won heat 14 to put himself in an even stronger position. Hoskins and McKinlay met in heat 16 with the result a win for the latter
leaving the top of the leaderboard, with one race each remaining, reading Carr 12, McKinlay 10, Crammond, Davey & Hoskins 9.

Crammond kept up the pressure as best he could by winning heat 17 before Carr came to the tapes to face his closest rival, McKinlay, in heat 17. The result was a fine victory
for Carr and confirmation that the Bottesford Bullets rider was the new British Under 18 Champion. With the other rostrum places still up for grabs Tommy Davey won heat 19 to
set up a run-off for 2nd and 3rd with Stevie Crammond defeating him in the extra race to take the runners-up spot.

It was a good day for the youngest trio in the field with 15 year olds Carr and Davey taking 1st and 3rd and Ray France, also 15, scoring 8 points to finish 6th overall. The
trio have 2 more years at this level and will fancy dominating the title chase for the next couple of seasons. EL riders Hoskins, McKinlay and Jessup all scored well whilst the
transfer listed Crammond certainly put himself at the front of the shop window with an excellent display. Juvenile Jaunt rider Dmitrij O'Shea started with a trio of 3rd places
but then improved and finished in a creditable 8th place with 8 points. Also commiserations to Brynmor Johns of the Abertillery Dragons who would have been amongst the
favourites for this meeting but missed out with a head injury.
