DANISH GP RESULT

HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) followed his top scoring effort in the previous GP by winning the Danish GP.  The Norwegian was in majestic form in the early stages and picked himself up from a heat 20 blank to add a couple of wins and claim GP glory, a result which sees him stay joint top of the leaderboard after 2 of the 8 rounds.  ERIK DAVIDSSON (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) didn't win a race all afternoon but reached the latter stages and then picked up a couple of second places to see himself into 2nd in the GP and moving up to joint 4th overall.  LIAM REAY (WORKINGTON LOGHEADS) was the top scorer in the meeting as he dropped just a single point in his first 6 heats before adding a 3rd plcae in the Grand Final and he now moves joint top of the overall scorers, alongside Bergestol with the pair holding a good early lead over the rest.  The Grand Final was completed by MACIEJ TERCJAK (STOCKPORT SHALEBLASTERS) who showed that riding in the Power League is no handicap with a double figure return that moved him into the top 8 places overall.
Despite not making the Grand Final it was a good day for both OLEG YELESNEV (WOLSTON WARRIORS) and JONUS SANDIN (WANTAGE KINGS) as they both recorded double figure returns which proved enough to put them into the top 8 spots overall.  The Semi Finals were completed by NICK AMBROSE (TWEEDSIDE TIGERS) and SCOTT BRIDGES (ABERAVON GEMS) who both picked up 9 points in qualifying before failing to add any more in the latter stages.  Triple World Champion Ambrose is certainly not riding as he would want just now but remains just a point outside the rostrum placings overall and he will be wanting to close the gap quickly on the leading pair in the next few rounds.
JENS ISAKSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) proved another good Wild Card pick by the GP Committee with 7 points, only just falling short of matching Boris Dvoynev in the last round by reaching the latter stages but he will be hungry for a good qualifying campaign after this taste of speedway on the biggest stage.  DENIS GOMOZOV (ABERAVON GEMS) was disappointed not to reach the Semi Finals but still picked up a useful 7 points and he actually moves up a place overall to sit in an impressive 3rd at this early stage of the competition.  CHRIS ADAMS (WOLSTON WARRORS) produced a couple of good rides but was pointless in his other heats and 5 points leaves him down the standings in 14th overall.  MARTIN SHAW (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) had made a good start to the series but suffered a first race exclusion, missing the 2 minutes due to engine problems on the line, which set him back in the early heats here; he bounced back well with a win but added just 2 more points and falls away from the leading pair at the top of the overall scores.  HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) was another disappointed with his efforts today and the young Englishman now finds himself outside the top 8 overall and looking for a good next round if he wants to improve on his 3rd place finish in last season's series.  BRAXTON MCCHESNEY (WHITBY VAMPIRES) found the going hard with just 3 points picked up and fellow newcomer to the GP scene HENRIK HANSEN (TUNSTALL TERRIORS) failed to score in his home GP and both will need to improve quickly if they want to end in the top 8 spots to take an automatic spot in next season's series.  Both reserves also took a ride in this one, due to time exclusions, with MARK BLACK (WORKINGTON LOGHEADS) and JESPER RISAGER (ZAGREB ZEBRAS) taking points from permanent series member to show they still have something to offer at the highest level.

So in 3 weeks time we move to the Australasian GP with Bergestol and Reay looking for a good result down under to really underline their champion credentials whilst the other members of the series will all want a big score to either close the gap on the top duo or make a charge for a top 8 place.
